Q: I'm planning a trip to vancouver btw aug. 29 and sep. 3 and would like to know about some the events going on at that time. I'm looking for more of the family type stuff like festivals and sports related activities. Also if there are any concerts going on I'd love to know. I just heard Madonna's coming there but in Oct. Too bad

A: The Pacific National Exhibition (PNE) runs from August 16 to September 1. It includes Playland (rides and games for all ages), a Super Dogs show and various other exhibits. With regard to sports, if you like baseball the Vancouver Canadians have games on August 29 & 30 (7:05pm start) and August 31 (1:05pm start). We also have a soccer team - the Whitecaps - and a football team - the BC Lions. Unfortunately, during your short trip, both of these teams play on the road and not at home. There are many places to visit including Stanley Park, Granville Island and Science World.
