Q: I was just wondering if it was close to downtown Vancouver and if it was worth $118/ night. Should I just spend more for an actual hotel stay in Vancouver?

A: Simon Fraser University's main campus - where the Simon Hotel is located - is in Burnaby, on top of the mountain. It's nowhere near downtown Vancouver - but you can take a bus from the campus down to the skytrain and take the skytrain into downtown Vancouver if you want. The Simon Hotel is actually designed for conferences on campus, rather than a tourist hotel. If you want to see Vancouver, you would be better off to stay in the downtown area, close to all the tourist amenities.
