Q: I got offer from Fluor Vancouver for 84K, how is the company doing and is this salary good one to live and save with family of 3.

A: Fluor Daniel has several lucrative contracts with infrastructure contractors in BC right now, as well as with the provincial government. There are several multi million (and a couple multi billion) dollar projects on the go or proposed, so I would negotiate a bit before accepting. 84K for an engineering job is low by current BC standards - the average single family detached house price in Vancouver is about 650,000, and the general cost of living is comparable to Seattle and LA. Getting a house and saving some money usually requires either both partners working, or a job in the 200K+ range.
