Q: Also, are US Dollars accepted in shops in Canada?

A: Hands down, Seattle. There are just so many more Americans (330 million +) than Canadians (31 million +) that the clothing industry is just huger and more diverse than in the Great North. Plus, the clothing industry in the US has distinct collections for each season that by July all is cleared out (at HUGE discounts) for August's fall arrival, March is cleared out for April's spring and summer collection, etc. Having lived in both cities, outlet malls are a lot bigger and better developed in the US than Canada. Go to any mall and there are a lot more Canadian license plates in the US than US ones in Canada. Taxes are generally less in the US, but if you're shopping for kids' clothes, kids are exempt from provincial sales taxes, so you pay only the GST. Lastly, online shopping is a much larger industry in the US than Canada, too. If you do choose to shop in Canada with US dollars (as friends of ours did this weekend), most retailers will accept them on a one to one exchange rate.
