Q: I live in Montreal and am wondering if it is possible to hike all the way to BC ... eventually, once in BC, i'd make my way up to Alaska. Are there trails where I could walk (not the highway)? Thanks

A: You're seriously limited by weather for a hike that long. In southern BC, you have reasonably decent weather from March through October. Once you get north of Prince George, your season is limited to May-September. You could go through Smithers and get to the Alaska panhandle at Stewart, BC and Hyder, Alaska, but you won't get any further into Alaska on that route. The Alaska Highway is basically the only route unless you are into serious isolation and backwoods travel.
