Q: Hi. I'm seriously considering moving to Vancouver from England as soon as I can. I don't really know a lot about the city so I was hoping someone would be able to give me some advice on what areas to live. I'm 33 years old, prefer bars to clubs and would like a lively area that isn't too noisy at night. Somewhere close to the centre of the action but far enough away not to keep me up all night. Any ideas?

A: It sounds like you want to be close to but not right in the downtown core. Other answers telling you North or West Vancouver probably aren't what you'd be looking for. They're essentially suburbia to downtown. The west end/Kitsilano areas would probably be more to your liking. Another good option might be Yaletown.
